February 20th: Found gray substance in cells of Mary Gage’s hive

Because the hive smelled good, we ventured to stick a toothpick into the gray stuff and taste it.  It was sugar.

February 12th: Bees Flying in Town

Sunny and 60° with a light breeze.  Bees were flying in town.

I was assembling my bait hives and moving frames full of resources from my one empty hive into the bait hives.  A number of honey bees were checking it all out.

I decided to leave all the entrances open for a few days (we’re supposed to have weather like this for the next several days) and just watch and see what happens.  I’ll close them up if they start getting robbed.
