December 5th: Honey Supers Provide Insulation

From HoneyBeeSuite.com

“A full honey super provides insulation and also provides some regulation of temperature fluctuations.  That is because honey has a high heat capacity.  In other words, it takes a lot of heat to warm honey (compared to air) and, conversely, it takes a long time for the honey to lose heat (compared to air).  The result is a more steady internal hive temperature.”
