John Babb and I traveled to Delta, Colorado, to pick up three Nucs. One for me and two for him. We purchased them from San Juan Honey Company and met the wife at a gas station east of downtown Delta.
We just put the three cardboard Nuc boxes in the back of my Expedition. I had put up the dog grate and wrapped it with a moving blanket. Very few bees got up in front with us.
When we got to my house, we put the five frames from the Nuc into a deep-body, 10-frame, hive box along with five empty frames. I had built a hive stand with an open top and purchased a screen bottom board. The hive box and empty frames I had bartered for.
My Nuc seemed fairly well developed. We did not look for the queen, but could see eggs, larvae, and capped brood.
